1.One should disconnect all electrical appliances; turn off electricity and gas
before leaving the house.

2. Personal hygiene especially washing hands should be maintained along with
food and water hygiene as described earlier in this chapter (e.g. eating freshly
cooked foods, boiling drinking water, wearing cloths that cover arms and
legs).
3. Children should not play in or near the water.
Important :
A disaster occurs without warning. If preparation is done in advance, the
community can help each other during the early days after the disaster until
help and relief comes.
